Take Hold of Your Healing

Take It!

Matthew 11:12 (New International Version)

From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.

Entering God’s Kingdom takes courage, unwavering faith, determination, and endurance because of the growing opposition leveled at Jesus’ followers.

Take hold of it! That’s exactly what you have to do if you want to obtain healing. In fact, in every area of life obtaining the victory boils down to one thing: Just take God at His Word. What He says—what is written in His Word—is the absolute truth and it really will work if we will only take hold of it.

The fact of the matter is, healing is no problem for the Lord. The only hard part is getting people to believe what He has said about it so they can receive their healing.

Deuteronomy 30:19 (New King James Version)

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.

Moses challenged Israel to choose life, to obey God, and therefore to continue to experience his blessings. God doesn’t force His will on anyone. He lets us decide whether to follow Him or reject Him. This decision, however, is a life-or-death matter. The Lord wants us to realize this, for He would like us all to choose life. Daily, in each new situation, we must affirm and reinforce this commitment. God has given each of us the choice. We must choose to take what God has offered; and we must do that.

It Doesn’t Drop On You

If you need a healing, you can’t sit back and wait for God to drop it down on you. You have to do what it takes so you can rise up in faith and take what rightfully belongs to you! Taking requires active faith. Having faith in God and His Word is the bottom-line answer to every problem regardless of what others may say.

People are not short of well-meaning advice. I’m sure you’ve figured that out, especially if you believe God for healing. More than likely, you’ve also figured out that most of what people say is not productive advice. I can tell you from experience, the answers that actually work are found in one place—the Word of God.

Isaiah 55:8-11 (New Living Translation)

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

A Higher Way of Thinking

The people of Israel were foolish to act as if they knew what God was thinking and planning. His knowledge and wisdom are far greater than any human’s. We are foolish to try to fit God into our mold—to make His plans and purposes conform to ours. Instead, we must strive to fit into His plans.

God’s Word has the power within it to bring itself to pass. Not only that, God’s Word teaches us to think His way which is the higher, better, and smarter way. That becomes possible when His Word, His way of thinking, crowds out other thoughts and ideas. Then you can pray in faith and receive what you need.

Proverbs 3:5 (New Living Translation)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

When we have an important decision to make, we sometimes feel that we can’t trust anyone—not even God. But God knows what is best for us. He is a better judge of what we want than we are! We must trust Him completely in every choice we make. We should not omit careful thinking or belittle our God-given ability to reason; but we should not trust our own ideas to the exclusion of all others.

We must not be wise in our own eyes but be willing to listen to and be corrected by God’s Word and wise counselors. Bring your decisions to God in prayer. Use the Bible as your guide and then follow God’s leading. He will direct your paths by both guiding and protecting you.
